The Baltic Sea Region

15.09.2009

The Baltic Sea Region defined as the Nordic countries, the Baltic States, Poland, Germany and Northwest Russia is considered an area of special interest for Denmark. Denmark is actively engaged in the pursuit of economic integration and business development in the region both bilaterally and within the various regional frameworks for economic cooperation.

The Danish Enterprise and Construction Authority considers the various parts of the Baltic Sea Region closely linked with respect to economic cooperation. It is a special priority for the Authority that this should be reflected in the nature of regional economic cooperation at large.

The Nordic Council of Ministers is an important forum for cooperation among the Nordic countries. The Danish Enterprise and Construction Authority has been delegated the responsibility for the Danish participation in the Nordic Council of Ministers civil servants Committee for Industry and Trade. Usually, the Committee meets 3-4 times a year. The presidency of the Nordic Council of Ministers rotates among the Nordic Countries. Denmark had the presidency in 2005 and will have the presidency again in 2010.
