EXPO World Exhibition

13.05.2009

Centuries with Expo

World Exhibitions have a 150-year history and have throughout the years always been a global non-commercial exhibition. They form a home of cross cultural dialogues, international meetings and serious exchanges of global dilemma solutions. Just as well, it is a fine forum of branding cities, regions and countries.

In fact, World Expo is considered the Olympics of economy, technology and research, with an ocean of national attractions in the pavilions.

EXPO 2010 Shanghai
World exhibitions are held every five years. Aichi in Japan organised one in 2005, and the next universal EXPO is to be held in Shanghai, China, in 2010.

At a general meeting on 31 March, BIE – the International Exhibitions Bureau – decided that the next universal world exhibition in 2015 will be held in Milan, Italy.

Smaller-scale world exhibitions are held sometime during the five year interval between two universal EXPOs. EXPO Zaragoza 2008, which was held in Zaragoza, Spain, from 14 June till 14 September 2008 was such an exhibition.

Between the universal world exhibitions in Shanghai and Milan, Yeosu in South Korea will host a smaller-scale world exhibition in 2012.
