Implementation of legislation
In the implementation legislation it is stated that the Minister for Economic and Business Affairs is the National Authority in Denmark. The Minister has transferred this responsibility to the Danish Enterprise and Construction Authority.
Some of the most important tasks of the National Authority are to;
- serve as a national focal point in relations with the Organisation at the Hague (OPCW) and the other States Parties;
- communicate with the OPCW concerning initial and annual declarations and other notification activities;
- monitor the chemical industry's activities in the chemicals included in the Convention;
- co-ordinate the arrangements in connection with inspections;
- escort the inspection team and monitor the on site activities of the team.
Thus, the National Authority is responsible for collecting information about activities in Denmark that are relevant to the Convention and submit this information to the OPCW.
Furthermore, the National Authority shall be responsible for arranging for the inspection teams to carry out inspections in Denmark and if necessary escort international inspection teams to the inspected facility.
