Services
Denmark is the fifteenth largest exporter of services in the world and the service sector plays an increasingly role in the economy and for Danish exports.
The Services Directive
In December 2006 the Services Directive was adopted by the Council and the European Parliament. The Directive was to be implemented in the Member States before December 28, 2009.
The Internal Market Centre has coordinated the implementation of the Services Directive in Denmark.
To facilitate the implementation process the Internal Market Centre set up a working group with the participation of the ministries affected by the Services Directive. The working group met on a regular basis to discuss the directive. The screening of Danish legislation concerning services is also conducted in the working group. In May 2009 a new horizontal law implemented parts of the Directive.
