What is controlled?

Various circumstances may indicate that particular exports are of a critical nature requiring an export authorisation.

Export taking the form of, for example, a product, a service or an electronic transfer may be critical as a result of its function or application.

At the same time, the export must be intended for a critical recipient, for example because the purchaser resides in a country which necessitates a prior export authorisation. There is a difference between exporting to the EU and critical countries such as North Korea and Iran as different rules apply depending on the export destination in question.

There may also be warning signals in connection with the export in the form of suspicious circumstances which require further investigation and, perhaps, that the exporter applies for an authorisation.

Please study the list of good advice and the answers to some of the questions that applicants often ask.

If in doubt, it is always possible to obtain advice and guidance.
